SnapCalorie's photo calorie counter provides a convenient way to monitor your diet and nutrition. You can log entire meals or days by taking a photo or recording a voice note, and our AI algorithm will quickly generate information on calories, macros, and over 100 micronutrients using USDA database values.

Concerned about accuracy? The photo calorie counter is twice as precise as visually estimating portion sizes. By dictating gram values and ingredients while placing items on a food scale with the voice note feature, you can log your food with outstanding precision and without typing.

No kitchen scale? The photo calorie counter can leverage the LiDAR depth sensor on your iPhone Pro to scan food volume accurately or use average portion sizes with the voice note feature.

Backed by an ex-Google AI research team with co-founders of Google Lens and Cloud Vision API, SnapCalorie's AI algorithm is supported by peer-reviewed academic research. The Nutrition5k project involved collecting data on 5,000 unique dishes for algorithm accuracy evaluation against true nutrient values.

Our algorithm achieves an average expected error of +/- 80 calories for a 500-calorie dish on the iPhone Pro and +/- 130 on a regular iPhone compared to an average error of +/- 265 calories for visually estimating portion size.

The functionality of the photo calorie counter involves taking a picture to identify food types on the plate, measuring food volume with the LiDAR sensor on an iPhone Pro, estimating portion size visually for other phones, and then fetching nutritional data from trusted sources like USDA.

If there are discrepancies, you can make corrections yourself or seek assistance from our nutrition experts. The AI fine-tunes itself over time based on your data and preferences.

Cooking fats pose challenges in calorie counting, but you can provide hints through voice notes or manually adjust after the initial prediction.

For missing barcode data, you can capture nutrition labels through our feature that automatically populates values into the system.

SnapCalorie integrates with HealthKit to transfer logged meal nutritional information seamlessly to Apple HealthKit.
